miacomTM diagnostics was founded in 2006 with the vision to excel in the speed of “molecular identification and characterization of microorganisms” in clinical diagnostic applications.
Since its founding the company has completed the development of a novel platform technology for a rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases that is based on the molecular diagnostic method “Fluorescence in situ hybridization” (FISH). Since the widespread utilization of the original FISH technology was inhibited due to limited number of suitable detection probes and the technical complexity of the protocol, miacomTM introduced multiple, highly innovative enhancements to the original FISH technology.

miacom’sTM ID-S3 TM diagnostic kits form the first market-ready product line that is based on this proprietary technology. All offered kits enable simultaneous identification of up to 14 pathogens either from stool, sputum and blood cultures at an unmet speed with a simple & safe procedure as well as superior performance compared to traditional diagnostic methods. Following the completion of final clinical studies, the general market introduction of the ID-S3 TM diagnostic kits is planned for 2010.
A second product line, that upgrades the ID-technology to give immediate knowledge on the pathogen with respect to identity and antibiotic susceptibility is planned as a next step.
